Nothing much to say about Kuta Karnival 2008, except the hot weather and not quite a good time when another big event 1st Asian Beach Games was held in similar date [18-26 october], which i think kinda split people attention whether see the Asian Beach Games or Kuta Karnival, but above all i think Kuta Karnival is still better Festival compare to similar event measure by the events and people who come to the event. I just got back to Bali on 24 October, so i guess i miss lot of things during the Kuta Karnival and ABG, but i manage to come to see the closing parade of Kuta Karnival 2008.

Waterfall in Center Bali

On my way back to Denpasar not to far from the Tukad Bangkung bridge i saw a sign to a waterfall site many of Balinese may not know or hear about Nungnung waterfall they are more familiar with Git-git waterfall. So i decide to give this a shot on this one and thought its going to be an easy trip.

Even on Sunday (i came on Sunday) this place is so quite, not too many visitors i reckon and when i arrive on the site there’s only 3 motorbikes and a car.  for those who are in good shape you wont find difficulties to reach the waterfall cause you have to walk down to hill (about 400 meters).

My personal opinion; it’s okay but not a wow place and it cost me a sore legs for 3 days 🙂

Dreamland beach

I heard about this beach along ago and people been talking about its white sandy beach and perfect sunset but there is always something to keep me occupied but i finally decide to pay a visit to prove the story.

Dreamland beach is actually not too far from where i live in Denpasar to south direction Uluwatu and 3 Km before Uluwatu Beach you’ll find big entrance to what supposed to private property of Indonesia 2nd president family.

Cold trip to jati luwih

Last sunday i had a trip to Jati Luwih i’ve been planing this trip with my friend’s and his wife.

The area actually is not far from Denpasar to go there it will take you in approximately 2 hours.
Well Sunday morning is not always a bright sunny day and we had cloudy day , then my friend had to cancel his participation because of this, but the show must go on.

I’ve never rode to Jatiluwih before so i’d just follow the road sign along the way , and it was pouring rain as we entered City of Tabanan and it’s only 1,5 hours away to Jatiluwih and the trip could not be better when you ride a motorcycle.

Finally arrived and stopped in Jati Luwih, i wander aimelesly to this magnificent landscape of terraced rice paddy field but unfortunately i came not in the right time, they had just harvested last week, man!

below are evidence from the scene.

Grand cremation in Ubud

The next grand event in Bali will be held Tuesday 15 July,2008 that is royal cremation from members of Puri Ubud that will be held at Ubud area, my friend told me that many processions were held throughout this week in Ubud. as reported in many newspaper this cremation will attract thousands of people because Indonesia has included this event as an international attraction, the 28 meters high Bade (a man-built construction where all the human remains will be gathered) is also prepared for this cremation or plebon that needs about 250 men to lift and carry it on their shoulder to travel about 2km to cemetary where they will burn it, i plan to go to this rare event (last big cremation was in 1979), hopefully in time cause i know it will be huge traffic jam in Ubud. i’ll post some photos of the event (if i can make it to the site!).

Ngelawang

The Ngelawang is a tradition that hail holy values to obtain protection, prosperity and health. After the Ngelawang performance people make an offering which contains some money (sesari, canang beras jinah). In pictures showing below the performance is completed with barong and keris dance, very beautiful and everybody is just so keen watching especially when the keris dance when the dancer that in trance try to impale themselves to the keris, but it seems that the keris can’t hurt them, some how this trance state protects them.
